Sharing is caring!

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, many of us are looking for the perfect Valentine’s craft for our kids. Some of the best craft ideas require minimal crafting supplies, and this is especially true when it comes to this heart craft.

This fun Valentine’s heart puppy craft idea came from my daughter, who is a complete dog lover. If your child likes hearts and dogs, this craft will be right up your alley.

Valentine Puppy Craft Details:

Age Group: 3+ yrs

Difficulty: Easy

Time To Complete: 10 minutes

This is such a fun, creative Valentine’s craft for preschoolers, although even my seven-year-old loved it. Children three and above can use scissors to cut out their own hearts for their Valentine’s puppy. However, if you think your child is ready before this age, that’s great!

They will also be able to pick out the puppy’s accessories because every child’s dog should look unique, adding different colors to ears, face, eyes, tongue, etc.

Supplies Needed For This Valentine’s Puppy Heart

This craft supply list is minimal, which is one of the reasons why it is so great. All of the crafting supplies you probably already have at home. But if you don’t, here is what you’ll need.

Here’s what you’ll need to make this Valentine’s puppy heart:

Create Your Valentine Puppy Craft

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

You’ll need pink, red, and white paper to start. However, feel free to change the color of your paper. Maybe make a red dog with white ears; however, you prefer to do.

Collect other supplies as needed. You’ll need a pencil, glue, scissors, googly eyes, and a few pom-poms.

Step 2: Cut Out Your Valentine’s Hearts

To keep from having an asymmetrical heart, fold your paper in half, then draw half a heart. Next, let your child follow your pencil marks to cut his or her paper hearts out.

When you are done cutting, you should have the pieces shown above three hearts and a puppy tongue.

Step 3: Assemble Your Valentine’s Puppy

Now it’s time to assemble your Valentine’s puppy. Start by gluing on its ears and placing its eyes where you desire.

Lastly, glue its tongue down, followed by its nose and little whisker pom poms.

This was such a fun Valentine’s puppy to create. When you are done, feel free to display it around the house. Or you can help your child create a nice Valentine’s note on the back and have them give it to a family member of your choosing.
