Supplies Needed for Cat Paper Plate Craft
Gathering the right materials is the first step in your paper plate cat crafting adventure. Nothing complex, just a few basics that you probably already have at home or can easily get your hands on.
Here’s what you’ll need for your paper plate cat:
How to Make a Cat Craft With Paper Plates
Once you have gathered your materials, it’s time to start creating!
Step 1: Paint the Paper Plate Black
Start by grabbing everyone a paper plate and painting it black! I used acrylic paint to paint my paper plate cat; however, depending on the child’s age, you may want to use finger paints or washable paint for easier cleanup.
Once your child is done painting, set the paper plate off to the side to dry.
Step 2: Print and Cut Out the Cat Template
While your paper plate cat is drying, print and cut the template and trace it onto black and pink construction paper. Then, cut out the ears from your construction paper, as shown below.
Once they are cut out, you can have your kiddo grab their glue stick and glue the pieces together.
Step 3: Attach Ears and Eyes
Once the ears are assembled and your paper plate is dry you can glue the ears to the back of the paper plate.
Next, use yellow and black paper cut-out eyes for your cat. Make them big and round to give your cat a friendly look. Glue them onto the paper plate!
Step 4: Add Whiskers and Pom Poms
Let the fun commence as you customize your own cat! From whiskers to lips to a cute pom pom nose! Have your kiddo personalize their cat as they choose!
