With just a few basic supplies, you’ll have an adorable love bug craft that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day, springtime fun, or anytime you want to spread a little love.
Love Bug Paper Plate Craft Instructions:
1. Paint the Paper Plate
Paint the entire paper plate red. Set it aside and allow the paint to dry completely.
2. Cut in Half
Once dry, cut the paper plate in half. One half of the paper plate will be used for the love bug’s body.
3. Cut Out Shapes
From pink paper, cut out one circle for the head, two small antenna shapes, and several heart shapes for decorating the body.
From black paper, cut thin rectangular strips to create the love bug’s legs.
4. Draw Face
Use a black marker or crayon to draw a simple face on the pink circle.
6. Assemble Love Bug Craft
Now it’s time to assemble your love bug paper plate craft! Start by gluing the two pink antennas to the back of the head so they stick out from the top. Next, glue the head onto the front curved edge of the paper plate half.
Lastly, glue the pink heart shapes onto the red paper plate body.
7. Add Legs
Turn the paper plate over and glue the black legs along the straight edge on the back of the plate. At this point, you can choose to glue or staple the other half of your love bug onto this half of your paper plate. Or you can leave it as is!
